Montauk Bar Owner Has A Change Of Heart Regarding “No Irish Drunks” Sign

Earlier today, we posted a story about a sign in the window of The Dock Bar and Grill in Montauk, New York. The sign read: no yapping mutts, no Irish drunks, no screaming kids, no cell phones, no strollers and no public restrooms. However, the sign has since been changed and now reads "no sensitive drunks". Pauline Turley, vice chairperson of the board of Irish Arts Centre in New York, noticed the original sign and told IrishCentral.com that she was upset by it. Ms Turley, from Co. Down, said “I was taken aback by the way that kind of stereotype was so blatantly displayed. “No Irish Drunks,’ that’s very pointed”. "If you spoke about any other religion or race they would probably take offense to it, but the Irish have a sense of humour," said the owner of the bar, George Watson.
