Sinead O’ Connor appeared on the Late Late Show last night in the midst of her on-going feud with Miley Cyrus.
However, the Nothing Compares To You singer was quick to point out that Miley wasn’t the only issue in question.
The 46-year old was much more interested in talking about the downfall of the music industry and she had quite a lot to say on the subject.
“The power of rock and roll to change things or to move people is being murdered by all of this worship of fame.
"Pop Idol, X Factor, all of this stuff…people, you know people like Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh who doesn’t even know how to burn a CD as of the last time I saw him, deciding what records should sound like.”
O’Connor also made reference to Miley’s performance in the video for recent hit Wrecking Ball, commenting that “20 year old women to be asked to lick sledgehammers in videos for songs that have no lyrical reference “ is exploitation.
Controversially, the singer also hit out at boyband of the moment, One Direction, suggesting that their popularity is due to their sex appeal.
“Why One Direction are popularised is because young girls want to have sex with them.”
