The N2 Dublin – Monaghan road is closed following a fatal two-vehicle crash this morning.
Gardai are currently investigating the collision which occurred between Carrickmacross and Castleblaney at approximately 6am.
Two male drivers, both the sole occupants of two trucks, lost their lives in the collision and were pronounced dead at the scene.
One of the victims’ bodies remains at the scene, while the other was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda.
It is expected that the N2 between Carrickmacross and Castleblaney will remain closed for the coming hours while the Garda investigation is underway.
