New Research Says There’s No Such Thing As A ‘Safe Tan’

This is an eye-opener.

Health experts have warned that there is no such thing as a ‘safe tan’.

The National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) says that adults need between six and eight teaspoons of SPF 15 or higher when exposed to sunlight.

According to the watchdog, there is “no safe or healthy way to get a tan from sunlight” and while people need to make sure they’re getting Vitamin D from sunlight, it’s important to be aware of the risks of skin cancer.

NICE says that “a balance needs to be struck” because many people are deficient in Vitamin D and that getting sunlight (with the protection of SPF) can help build bone strength.

The research spotted in The Telegraphsays that babies, children, people with moles and freckles and anyone with a family history of skin cancer should take extra care in the sun.
