Wake Me Up When September Ends is a famous Green Day track and in case the title didn't really give the sentiment of the song away, the lads don't really have a lot of time for the ninth month... but we do.
If you found yourself staring at the calendar today in disbelief, thinking: 'how in the name of jaysus is it that time of the year already? Time's flying by, it'll soon be Christmas'... we feel your pain.
2014 isn't going any faster than any other year even it if does feel that way so lets just enjoy it.
Here are ten reasons why September is a great month.
1. God bless Teachers

Mothers and fathers all over the country are silently rejoicing as the summer holidays draw to a close, a new school term begins and peace and normality in the family home is restored… until the Halloween break.
One Mum from the US loves 'back to school' time so much she films her annual celebratory dance.
2. No more talk of ‘bikini bodies’...

The ‘no carbs before marbs’ didn’t really go to plan anyway.
3. Dark nights

As much as we do appreciate the grand stretch in the evening, there is one huge advantage to the dark nights...
There is no greater feeling than getting into some cosy pyjamas and fluffy socks after a long day in the office. There is no point getting changed out of the work clothes to anything other than pjs when it’s dark outside… Ah slippers, heaven!
4. The wardrobe clear out…

How else are you suppose to make room for your new autumn and winter collection?
5. College goers are back on campus which means one thing…

You will no longer feel like a cougar at your local pub or club.
Youngsters that have been home enjoying the summer holidays will be gone, so it is back to the lads we can be sure are legal!
6. The Late Late Show

Don’t act like you do not share our love for
The Late Late...
We simply cannot wait to sit back on a Friday night and let Tubs into the living room for a couple of hours, we’ve missed him dearly.
7. Lighting the fire…

We all have that neighbour that has insisted on lighting the fire right through the summer, but with the cold nights creeping in and so it is only a matter of days until we get lighting ours. We’re just not too keen on the bringing in the sticks and coal bit.
8. The Birthdays

Ever notice that a lot of your friends turn a year older in September?
Yea, well now you how their parents brought in the new year! But lucky for you, it means great nights out with the girls.
9. Falling leaves...

Our fair ol’ isle is beautiful every month of the year but particularly in autumn, as our famous emerald shades turn a beautiful gold and amber. This calls for some Paolo Nutini.
10. The All-Ireland

The All-Ireland football and hurling finals are the pinnacle events in the GAA calendar and take place in September.
It doesn't matter if your county hasn't been next nor near a final in Croker since 1942, you will still make sure not to miss the result.
