Noticed Thicker Discharge Down There? Here’s What It Means

Don't worry, it's completely normal, but VERY good to know.

We don’t often talk about what’s in our knickers.

And that’s okay, comparing the consistency of our discharge MIGHT be TMI.

However, it’s no harm to be educated as to what your discharge might be telling you about your body, which is actually a lot.

If you’ve noticed that your discharge is more (beware, some interesting adjectives otw) stringy, sticky or stretchy than usual, it’s probably because you are ovulating.

Hilda Hutcherson, MD, a professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, explained to Cosmopolitan that this is a completely normal part of a cycle.

She said:  “Just before ovulation, you may notice an increase of clear, stringy discharge.”

The sciency bit is that the stickier the fluids, the easier it is for the sperm to travel and meet the egg.

Interesting, but maybe not dinner table interesting.
