Israeli’s longest running daily newspaper Ha’aretz have caused outrage by advertising to launch their new website in a soft-porn video on YouTube. Claiming that the new website is better than sex.
The advert shows a couple having sex in multiple positions, while the male speaks to the camera, complaining that things are becoming boring, as the female remains silent.
Complaints also include that he is not learning anything, “there's a slight sense of 'been there, done that.'" And then he continues on to mock the young woman as she repeats the word “yes,” in pleasure.
Ha’aretz web’s new slogan reads, "Life is not as interesting as Ha'aretz's new website."
The portrayal of the woman in the video as a voiceless sexual object has outraged many Israeli women’s groups and even staff at the paper are disgusted with the advertisement petitioning for it to be removed immediately.
Breitbart printed the petition, which reads:
“The newspaper we are all proud of elected to advertise itself in one of the most despicable, sexist commercials seen in recent time, with an ad that promotes pornographic content in the vein of edgy appeal to younger audiences. … We're ashamed today to work in a newspaper that under false pretense of irony and sophistication (with questionable quality) showcases a silent female as a sexual object.”
