There’s nothing more frustrating than when you go out for a walk or run, minding your own business and then you step into dog poo.
Which should have been picked up by an owner, placed into a bag and dumped in a bin.
You know, as you’re legally obliged to do.
Now one UK council has decided to crack down on those dirty litterbugs – by DNA testing leftover dog poo.
According to
i100, Barking (seriously) and Dagenham council in the UK has decided to start DNA testing leftover poo – which will then be compared against a database of the borough’s dogs to see who is responsible.
The database will be formed by keeping a record of all dogs microchipped – which will become compulsory by April.
Speaking to i100, local councillor Darren Rodwell said:
“This scheme, which is in response to concerns raised by our residents, is about bringing considerate owners on board with us now, enabling us to gather evidence so we can get tough on inconsiderate owners later.”
While it might sound a little extreme, it could prevent dog owners from walking away from their little pile of poop.
Which means you can walk freely, without taking a detour into the grass to clean up your soles.
