One of Broadway’s biggest musicals is coming to Dublin this year

We cannot WAIT for this.

There’s been so many good musicals lately.

Some have been big screen sing-a-longs, while other have been unforgettable stage adaptations.

There’s even been ones reportedly making the jump from the big screen to the stage.

And now one of the biggest musicals on Broadway at the moment is set to make its Dublin debut in December.

Come From Away will kick off its slightly-more-than-six-week run at the Abbey Theatre on December 6 and go until January 19 before its transfer to the West End.

The show tells the real story of the 38 planes that were forced to land in Gander in Newfoundland and Labrador as part of Operation Yellow Ribbon on September 11, 2001.

The 7,000 passengers from across the globe were grounded in the Canadian community and the surrounding villages for roughly five days – and nearly doubled its then-population of 9.651.

The musical explores how the small Newfoundland community invited the ‘come from aways’ into their lives.

As uneasiness turned into trust and music soared into the night, gratitude grew into friendships and their stories became a celebration of hope, humanity and unity.

The show was nominated for seven awards at the 71st Tony Awards – including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book of a Musical.

It won for Best Direction of a Musical.

Tickets are priced between €20 and €50, with concession tickets available for between €13 and €30.
