This is the one thing you should do after a break-up

So important and easily forgotten.

So important and easily forgotten.

When a relationship breaks down it can be a very upsetting and confusing time. Especially if it was a long-term relationship.

While there are a few things that you can do to try and take your mind off it, it’s also a time to be practical and protect yourself. Included in that is one thing that most people forget to do, but that everyone should do if you go through a break-up.

You should change your social media and email passwords. Even if you haven’t shared your passwords with your ex, passwords are easily found if you’ve logged into the sites on their computer.

We’re not saying all exes would go searching through your emails or social media but if you’re still automatically signed in they might have a sneaky browse.

This has been highlighted by a reporter for the Baltimore after she heard about a disgruntled ex who sent spam emails from his ex-girlfriend’s email address.

It works both ways – you don’t need to see what he’s up to either. It won’t help the healing process.
