Operation Smile: Little Girl Sees Herself For The First Time After Undergoing Cleft Lip Surgery

You might want to grab a box of tissues and have them on hand before you watch the above video because it’s absolutely heart-wrenching (but in a really good way, promise).

The clip follows the story of an adorable little girl from Brazil called Talita before and after she underwent cleft lip surgery. It also shows Talita’s reaction when she sees herself for the first time post-surgery. Our hearts were literally breaking when we saw her big, brown eyes light up!

Despite the fact that the video was originally uploaded in 2010, it’s after going viral again after someone  posted it on the website Reddit.com.

Talita received her surgery via Operation Smile, a not-for-profit charity that provides cleft lip and palate repair surgeries to children from all over the world.

“It didn’t seem she was told her whole life she was a princess. That she was coddled and told she was special and she should have gotten a better lot in life,” wrote one Reddit user.

“This wasn’t something she’s been conditioned to know she deserved. We experienced her self-discovery of a reality she never really imagined – without performance, without superficial overblown reactions, without filter... And that’s why this little girl broke and mended my heart in the span of 45 seconds,” the user added.

We don’t know about you but we definitely think Talita is princess. What an absolute legend.
