Our Woman Of The Week Is Olive McHugh, Winner Of A €100 Littlewoods Ireland Voucher

She was nominated by her daughter Leona, who tells us in her own words, why Olive is a deserving winner.

"I would like to nominate my mom for the woman of the week award. She is the strongest woman I have ever known and is my inspiration and who I aspire to be when I'm older. "My mom got married very young after falling in love with my dad, they didn't have a lot of money and had to sacrifice a lot of things. "This included her having to drop out of nursing school, her childhood dream.  After having four children, Mom went back to college and became a psychiatric nurse with a lot of hard work and determination. She also gained the top results in Ireland for nursing". Olive and Leona McHugh "When my father was diagnosed with terminal cancer, Mom was always there to look after everyone and kept everyone together. She held me while I cried myself to sleep every night with grief and helped me overcome the sadness even when she was so upset herself. "When I was diagnosed with a rare form of arthritis at 16, my mother was the one who took me to every physio and hospital appointment, and helped me move and get on with life. "She encouraged me to finish my Leaving Cert, go to college and get a job. She always supports me in every decision I make. "We are best friends and I think my mom is the most fantastic mother out there. She definitely deserves the award".
