The passengers of the Carnival Triumph sewage-filled cruise ship have all disembarked early this morning and the end to the nightmarish journey has arrived.
It was almost a near party-atmosphere aboard the cruise ship as it docked late last night at the Alabama Cruise Terminal. Some passengers hung over balcony rails, while others danced and waved signs, CNN reports.
But it is only now that photos and snippets of descriptions about the horrific journey are making their way onto social media spheres.
The saga began unfolding early Sunday morning as the Carnival Triumph, originally carrying 3,143 passengers and 1,086 crew members, was making its way to Galveston, Texas, when a fire left the vessel listing to the side and drifting in the Gulf of Mexico.
The ship drifted nearly 90 miles before enough tugboats arrived to tow the massive cruise ship to Mobile.
Passengers have reported sewage sloshing in the hallways and, in some cases, running down the walls of cabins. Still others said the power outage forced people, especially those in the lower decks or inside cabins, to drag their mattresses to outside decks because of stifling heat.
The power outage also made it impossible for passengers to call loved ones. Some people have shared their experience of the journey online:

"This was one of the discovered only working outlets so people put their power strips together and we made a huge charging station," wrote passenger Kaitlyn Robertson.

According to passenger Megan Clemons-Foxall these "buckets of sewage" rest in stairwell aboard the ship.
