Cecilia ‘Dolly’ Mischel Boarman is 102-years-old but she has only just finished her degree after 60 years of waiting.
Metro report that Boarman had to leave Brescia University in Kentucky before she finished her course in education which she started in 1957 at the age of 40.
Now, she’s been awarded an Associate of Arts Honoris Casua, an honorary degree, and she’s only DELIGHTED.
“I am so thrilled to finally get a diploma after all these years.”
She is now the oldest living alumna of the university.
VP for Institutional Advancement at Brescia, Tracey Naylor; told their website ‘It was one of the best things I’ve had the opportunity (of doing) during my career.’
“When she said she was 102, I was truly at a loss for words. I immediately checked her transcripts, calculated her credits, and asked Sr. Cheryl Clemons, Vice President for Academic Affairs, if there was any way I could deliver a diploma during my visit. She was immediately willing and we were able to pull off a very nice surprise. It was one of the best things I’ve had the opportunity during my career.”
