PIC: Drunk Driver Writes Powerful Thank You Letter To The Officer Who Arrested Him

"He treated me fairly, and I never felt ridiculed or threatened."

Megan Cassidy

We are constantly bombarded with stories and complaints about members of the law enforcement, and it’s rare they are thanked for the good work they do.

That’s why we love this story about a convicted drunk driver who wrote a moving thank-you letter to an officer who treated him with respect and carried out his duties professionally.

The man was detained in Georgia, US last July, after being pulled over for drink-driving on Highway 74 by Tyrone Police Department chief Brandon Perkins.

He emphasised the fact that he had nothing to gain from writing the letter as his court punishments had already been settled, but that he was sick of the constant negative stories about members of the force in the media.

Speaking to Fox 5 Atlanta, chieft Perkins acknowledged: “This is kind of a testament to what law enforcement does every day.

“Our job is to go out and make sure people are safe. That is what Collins was doing that night and the end result was the driver is safe, he did not hurt anyone and the message was sent – that is what we are here to do”.
