Journalist Javier Espinosa and photographer Ricardo Garcia Vilanova were taken captive last September by an armed group near the Iraqi border in Syria.
Over the weekend Espinosa contacted El Mundo in Spain to say he and Ricardo were now in the hands of the Turkish military. It remains unclear as to whether the men were freed by captors or escaped as their newspaper gave no further information.
The pair flew into the military airport of Torrejon in Madrid yesterday where Espinosa’s young son, Yerai, ran to greet his father with open arms.
The look of sheer joy on this Dads face is simply heartwarming.
