The dentist is a lot of people's least favourite place.
A lot of the time, this fear of the dentist stems from childhood, but one clinic in Illinois is trying to make it a more comfortable experience for little ones.
The Dodo spoke to Paediatric Dentistry in Northbrook about Jojo, a trained comfort dog who puts young patients at ease, especially those who are very nervous and/or have special needs.
According to clinic employee Veronica Renteria, the appointments go much smoother for staff and patients alike when Jojo is around.
"When the patients are very anxious or scared, they tend to move around a lot," Renteria said. "When JoJo is there, the appointments go much smoother and quicker for them. And the doctor gets to perform the work as it's meant to be done."

She also helps keep the costs down, because with her presence sedatives aren't required for minor procedures like cleaning, which may have been needed without her.
"She loves coming in. She's very well trained and knows what she's doing. We all benefit from her so much."
What a little angel!
