The fleck cut her cornea, leading to a painful infection that left her blind.
Her long and painful journey, documented on Imgur, has seen her receive two cornea transplants and ultimately having her eye removed because the risk of sepsis was just too great.
She now has a prosthetic eye in its place, and has maintained a sense of humour throughout the whole ordeal, with Imgur updates like, "I fought the glitter and the glitter won".
However, her medical bills have piled up over the years, so much so that a third party has set up a GoFundMe page to help ease some of the financial burden.Explore more on these topics:
