Sure why not? One priest in Galway has opted to change it up at bit in his parish, using PowerPoint presentations during his sermons.
The Connacht Tribune reports that Fr. Joe Roche of Ardrahan and Kilchreest, began to notice that the responses to his sermons were a bit on the quiet side following the introduction of the new translation of the Roman Missal and so decided to take matters into his own hands…
“It was terrible. They dropped off completely because they weren’t familiar with the texts,” he recalls.
While on a trip to Malaysia he came up with the genius plan of showing a slideshow at Mass that projected the right responses, psalms and the Penitential Rite, as well as jazzing it up a few images!
“Working humour on a congregation is a risky business! Says Fr. Roche.
“I cracked a joke the other Sunday and I thought it was very funny. Nobody else did though. It is a risk.”
