PICTURES: New Giraffe Calf Born At Dublin Zoo

Dublin Zoo have an adorable new arrival in the form of a male Rothschild giraffe.

The calf, which stands tall at 1.7 metres, arrived last Wednesday at 11.10pm and made his first outside appearance on Monday.

Speaking about the new arrival, born to parents Maeve and Robin, operations manager Gerry Creighton said: “He took his first steps outside into the African Savanna to meet the rest of the herd yesterday and it could not have gone better”.

He added: “Maeve is an experienced mother and is very attentive towards the calf… The calf was also introduced to his father Robin for the first time this week”.
