Postal Miracle: An Post Managed To Deliver This Postcard Despite No Surname, Street Address Or County

Only in Ireland.

Megan Cassidy

More proof that there’s no need for those highfalutin’ new post codes.

There is a commonly held notion in faraway lands that everybody knows everybody in Ireland.

And while it might not be the gospel truth, this group of Missourians weren’t far wrong when they thought all they’d need to get a postcard to Albert was his first name and his village.

According to Donegal Now, the surprised recipient was Sinn Fein councillor Albert Doherty who according to his son Conor, is well known in the community.

The note reads:

Greetings from across the pond Albert!

Wanted to wish you a very grand day!

Your Sister Cities Friends!

It’s addressed to simply “Albert, Carndonagh, Ireland.”

Well, in an extraordinary feat by An Post, the postcard somehow managed to arrive despite the lack of a surname, street address or even a county.

Trojan work.
