High-street store Penneys made the decision to remove mannequins with protruding ribs from their window displays after a customer complaint.

Mel Fraser tweeted a picture of the mannequin in question with the caption: “Dear Primark, is it really necessary that these new mannequins have protruding ribs?

Mel, who lives in Glasgow, posted the tweet on Monday July 21 and it has been retweeted by over 2,000 Twitter users. She also shared the below Instagram post about the mannequins.

She wrote the following caption to accompany the post: Dear @primark, is it really necessary that these new mannequins have protruding ribs??

And before I get anyone saying that I’m skinny bashing, I’m not, I’d just like to see mannequins in clothing stores being all different shapes and sizes rather than young girls thinking that this is the only way to be!! #primark #mannequin

Primark responded to Mel, saying that they were changing their window displays and the mannequins in question would not be used again.
