Prince Harry Follows In His Mother’s Footsteps And Tours Minefields In Africa

In 1997, just six months before her death, Diana toured minefields in Angola with the HALO Trust, which aims to clear unexploded bombs around the world.

Now, 16 years after her death, her son Prince Harry has also taken up the cause. The Prince visited the minefields in Angola in what the Palace has described as a “personal and private visit.”

According to People magazine, while in Angola: "Harry is visiting a number of demining teams across the region and will be touring minefields and meeting with beneficiaries of HALO's work," said Guy Wiloughby, CEO of the HALO Trust.

Harry’s trip to Angola will include a visit to the town Cuito Cuanavale, which according to HALO is the most heavily mined town in Africa.

The Prince became a patron of the trust after visiting the USA earlier this year. He is there as Patron of The HALO Trusts’ 25th Anniversary Appeal.

The trip had not been announced beforehand and photographers have not been invited. There is official photos expected to be released at a later date.
