A six-year-old girl got the surprise of her life when she arrived for her annual visit to see Santa and he was able to communicate with her.

Sadie Adam, a hearing impaired child from Massachusetts, was stunned when Santa began signing to her as she approached to get her photo taken with him.

Santa played by Westminster’s police chief Salvatore Albert told ABC News of his joy at being able to communicate with the girl.

“It was amazing to see the smile on her face and her eyes wide open with joy that Santa knew sign language. I am going to try to learn more for next year”.

Albert, who has fulfilled the role for 15 years, had Sadie’s mother Ronelle show him basic sign for an hour and practiced it for over three days.

The story reminded us of this touching scene from Miracle on 34th Street, where Kris Kringle played by the late Richard Attenborough signs to a deaf child.
