Santa played by Westminster's police chief Salvatore Albert told ABC News of his joy at being able to communicate with the girl.
"It was amazing to see the smile on her face and her eyes wide open with joy that Santa knew sign language. I am going to try to learn more for next year".
Albert, who has fulfilled the role for 15 years, had Sadie's mother Ronelle show him basic sign for an hour and practiced it for over three days.
