Counting up the cents after a night out has become a regular occurrence as hitting the tiles tends to be a pricey affair.

It will come as no surprise to hear that Ireland has been ranked as the third most expensive country in Europe.

The survey conducted by consumer network, One Big Switch, showed that the Emerald Isle was the third most expensive county to have a night out in, costing an average €112.

Luxembourg claimed the top spot with the average cost totalling €130.90, while Denmark came a close second at €116.96.

The biggest cost factors for nights out included babysitting (€50), dinner (€27), drinks (€21) and Taxi (€18.50).

For an average night out in Ireland you could get return flights to Portugal or a weekend away in Killarney.

In case you were wondering, the cheapest place to have a night out among the 28 EU members is Bulgaria, with the average night out costing just €24.24.
