Our top stories of the year have some cheeky giggles and some fabulously heart-warming moments. Some of these stories will bring a tear to your eye, others will have you doubled over with laughter while yet others will bring you down memory lane. Here are the stories from 2014 that you read the most.  _____________________ January The top story of January came from the US Figure Skating Championships when 19-year-old Jason Brown wowed the audience with a performance that was later dubbed as “riverdance on ice”. Watch the full routine here. February It was the video that we watched and watched over and over again. This Irish father’s reaction to his son ‘failing’ his driving test is absolutely priceless. March Our top story for March was one working mother’s response to Gwyneth Paltrow’s claims that being an actress was more difficult to working a nine to five job. Mackenzie Dawson’s open letter to the actress is well worth the read. You can read it here. April He’s been on the Late Late Show a number of times since, has signed a record deal and recorded an album but back in April, Father Ray Kelly almost broke the internet when his rendition of Hallelujah gave newly-weds Chris and Leah O’Kane a wedding day to remember. Listen to it here. May It was one of the funniest stories of the year when E! News reporter Katie Durocher fell victim to the Irish sense of humour as Kim Kardashian and Kanye West honeymooned on the Emerald Isle. Some of the stories she fell for are absolute gems. Read more about it here. June June was a sad month for popular American TV couple Giuliana and Bill Rancic when they revealed that their surrogate mother had had a miscarriage. Read about it here. July Kim and Kanye were top of the list again for July’s stories when it was revealed that the pair had refused to pay the bill on their Irish honeymoon. Read all about it here. August August saw Paddy Power taking a bow for a hilarious set of texts that they tweeted out from their Twitter account. Poor old Steve thought he was texting a girl from Dicey’s, but instead was having a romantic liaison with the moderator of the Paddy Power Twitter account. The funniest of it all though, was when Paddy Power came clean to poor Steve. Read all about it here. September Penneys topped the list in September with the announcement that the retail giant were entering into the beauty treatment market. The brand launched a nail and brow bar across their stores in the UK and Ireland. Read all about it here. October We all learned a lesson from Her.ie reader Louise Carey about the minefield that is the dating world. Louise tried the ‘softly softly’ approach with a guy she had dated from Tinder, only for him to show his true colours as a stage five clinger. Read the hilarious conversation here. November X Factor was dominating the news for the last few months of the year, but Dermot O’Leary came top of November’s stories when he got a little bit more than he bargained for during an interview on the Xtra Factor. As Dermot chatted on Skype to one of the viewers, her friend appeared topless in the background. This has to be seen to be believed, though ever the professional Dermot collected himself and continued the interview. Watch it here. December December saw a picture of a young woman go viral for all the wrong reasons. A young woman walking in an upper-middle class district of Kabul made headlines as local Afghans called her a disgrace for showing her legs. Read all about it here.
