Sammy is hoping the internet, which once made him famous, can help him and his dad fundraise for treatment for his dad, as well as hopefully findings a matching body to donate a kidney to his sick father.
Sammy’s mum Laney has said she originally hoped to keep her child out of the limelight, but friends and family encouraged her to reveal the family’s true identity:
“I thought what a positive boost it could bring to our fundraising efforts for people to know this is for the father of the baby who has made so many people smile.”
Laney set up a GoFundMe page to try help her husband beat the same fate as his mother, who died of kidney failure.
