Renowned Crime Writer Ruth Rendell In A “Critical But Stable” Condition in Hospital

Well-known author Ruth Rendell has suffered a stroke and is in a critical but stable condition in hospital it has been reported this week. The author is best known for her series of books that feature Chief Inspector Wexford and has been a favourite on the crime writing scene for a number of years. According to reports, she suffered a “serious stroke” and is now in hospital. “Ruth Rendell (Baroness Rendell of Babergh), the renowned crime writer and author of over 60 best-selling novels, suffered a serious stroke on Wednesday, 7th January,” a statement from her publisher read. “She is in hospital under expert care in a critical but stable condition. Her son, Simon Rendell, is with her and thanks everyone for their concern. “Our thoughts are with Ruth and her family at this difficult time.” Rendell has a host of awards to her name including the Crime Writers’ Association’s Diamond Dagger for excellence in crime writing.
