We really thought we’d seen all of the weirdest things you could rent… until today.
A company in England has outdone the rent-a-friend and rent-a-husband services with rent-a-mourner. And yes you did read that right.
For £45 (that’s based on a two-hour period) you can boost the numbers at a funeral or wake of a loved one.
Rent-a-mourner services are said to be on the rise.
That’s not all either because the people who are hired also get briefed on the life of the deceased so that they can talk with family and friends. They can also cry if required.
Speaking about it, founder Ian Robertson told the Telegraph: “We were actually inspired by the market growth in China.”
He added: “Our staff will meet with the client beforehand and agree ‘the story’ so our staff will either have known the deceased professionally or socially.”
“They will be informed of the deceased’s background, achievements, failures etc. so they can converse with other mourners with confidence.”
And they say that customer service is dead.
