National radio station 2fm have today announced that Bernard O'Shea, Keith Walsh and Jennifer Maguire will take over their flagship breakfast programme.
The appointment follows the news just before Christmas that former presenter Hector Ó hEochagáin was leaving the station and would be focusing on his television work.
Hector’s show had suffered falling ratings in the months before his departure, losing 14,000 listeners between October 2012 and October 2013.
Ó hEochagáin originally took over as presenter of the morning slot in the station shake-up that followed the sudden death of popular presenter Gerry Ryan in 2010.
During Hector’s tenure the breakfast show was broadcast from Galway each morning, but will be returning to the capital in its new incarnation.
Maguire and O'Shea will be familiar to television viewers, as the duo currently co-star in RTÉ comedy sketch show Republic of Telly. Walsh and O'Shea is not a new pairing either, as the presenters previously co-hosted a breakfast show on iRadio 105-107 for three years. Since 2011, Keith Walsh has been working for Dublin indie rock station Phantom 105.2.
