Restaurant Re-Paint Walls Of Women’s Bathroom After Provoking Backlash For Insulting Design

A burger chain in Leeds was forced to re-decorate their women’s bathrooms after customers complained about a host of insulting slogans painted onto the bathroom wall.

The Leeds branch of burger bar Almost Famous has come under fire for including statements such as “I really need a nose job” and “Laxatives are definitely the answer” as part of the décor on their women’s bathroom walls.

There was also no such designs in the men’s bathroom, but one blogger noted this was hardly surprising when the menu lists items like ‘slut sauce’ amongst its condiments.

The tacky paint work caused a backlash online, with women vowing to boycott the restaurant.

The company responded by yesterday posting an image to their Twitter account, showing a staff member painting over the degrading remarks:

Almost Famous also released a statement on the matter, apologising for their insensitivity:

“The designs in our female toilets have caused upset and we are sorry. Almost Famous is a young company, we take risks, but we got this one wrong. We want to stress our intentions weren’t to offend. The designs were created by a female employee to voice her own and other women’s insecurities. We accept we didn’t communicate this properly. The designs are currently being removed from all of our restaurants.”
