Think seven miles of golden sand and you have a pretty clear picture of the delightful Benone Strand. Not only is it a stunning beach, the cliff views and mountain backdrop ensure breath-taking scenery.
No rocks, shingle or seaweed mean this is a dream and there's even a playground so children are sure to enjoy a trip to Benone.
Portmarnock, Co Dublin
Although our capital city is associated with bustling streets and hectic crowds, there are a few hidden gems.
Both Dún Laoghaire pier and Howth Harbour are often raved about but we're very partial to a trip to Portmarnock.
'The Velvet Strand' conjures up images of soft sand and vivid blue waves... you won't be disappointed.

The coastal village of Strandhill is a popular spot for holiday-makers and there are a number of accommodation options when it comes to a staycation here.
This is another popular spot for surfers and the Warrior's Run, an annual 15k, is another reason to visit.

Old Head is a sheltered beach surrounded by cliffs and woodland.
A picturesque spot located 16km from Westport, you might even find time to take in a trip up Croagh Patrick while you're here.
Inchydoney, Clonakilty, Co Cork
Clonakilty has a reputation for beautiful sandy beaches and once you've taken a trip to Inchydoney, you'll see why people rave about them.
It is a very popular spot for water sports but there's a lot to be said for simply sitting down and taking in the view.
