The review comes after criticism of the show on Saturday.

Following the awards ceremony on Friday night, RTÉ have announced they will be launching a major review of production problems at this year’s IFTAs.

According to the Herald, an RTÉ spokesperson said that they were aware there were issues with the programme. “We will be reviewing those issues within the coming days. We do that with any big event,” the source commented.

A spokeswoman for the IFTAs said: “Over the past 11 years IFTA has produced superb award ceremonies, which are amongst the highest-rated shows in Ireland.

“However, there were, unfortunately, technical issues in the room at this year’s ceremony. Acoustics in the room created difficulties and technical delays caused a knock-on effect to the evening’s schedule.”

The show, which ran about twenty-five minutes over schedule, was criticised for bad sound, terrible scripts for presenters and bad camera work.

Presenters Laura Whitmore and Simon Delaney looked severely under pressure as they made their way through bad scripts (jokes) and attempted to talk over a loud audience.

Jeremy Irons almost shouted his way through an acceptance speech for his wife, Sinead Cusack while Colin Farrell looked visibly uncomfortable as he tried to read the script which introduced Michael D. Higgins.
