Baby Jude Miley was born nine weeks premature, perfectly happy and healthy. After initially being kept in hospital for 5 weeks after his birth, Jude finally got to go home with Mum, Ann-Louise and Dad, Greville.
Jude lived a perfectly normally life until a routine operation in late January 2012, at Crumlin Children’s Hospital went severely wrong, causing baby Jude to suffer cardiac arrest. It took doctors 50 minutes to resuscitate little Jude, resulting in his brain being deprived of vital oxygen.
After a week on a life support machine, Ann-Louise and Greville were faced with the prospect of losing their precious son.

Treatment for baby Jude is not available here in Ireland.
Despite being told their baby would not survive, Jude’s parents are not giving up, and for the past year, with the thanks of fundraising, Jude has been attending the leading brain injury rehabilitation hospital in the world, the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Once told that their little boy might not walk, Ann-Louise & Greville were more than thrilled when Jude began to take a few steps thanks to intense physio at the Institute.
Ireland does not currently offer any brain rehabilitation treatment for children less than two years of age, which means that the Miley family must travel far and wide for treatment.
The Jude Miley Trust was been set up in order to help raise much needed funds for all the extensive medical facilities care essential for Jude’s development.
