If current predictions are to be believed, it looks at though the strained relations between Ireland’s two airlines could be set to translate into very good news for passengers.

An Irish Independent report this morning claims that budget airline Ryanair, under the stewardship of Michael O’Leary, is planning “a winter offensive” at Dublin Airport.

The move looks set to involve additional winter services from the Irish capital, increasing the already healthy competition between the air rivals.

The newspaper reports that Ryanair will up the number of aircraft based in Dublin from 21 to 25 and there will be additional flights on several popular routes… which looks set to spark a price war for customers.

The news comes in the wake of Ryanair’s agreement to sell its stake in Aer Lingus, near 30 per cent, to IAG. The takeover is set to be completed as soon as next month.

IAG is one of the world’s largest airline groups and the holding company of British Airways and Iberia.
