A Welsh schoolgirl who planned to get one of her five a day got a bit of a shock when she bit into a banana… to discover 80 spiders in the piece of fruit.
Hannah John took the fruit to school as part of her lunch, but got a surprise when she bit into the snack.
Noticing a hole in the skin, she was horrified to spot dozens of tiny creatures crawling from inside the peeled skin.
The 17-year old told Wales News Service:
“I took the banana into school to have in the morning but I spotted something.
“There was a hole in it and inside there were around 80 tiny spiders. I did let out a scream. It was horrible and I hate spiders."
Hannah’s biology teacher at Olchfa Comprehensive School in Swansea confirmed to her horrified student that the spiders had come from a spider nest hidden in the fruit.
