A US blogger has claimed bad experiences with men caused her to abort her baby after discovering she was having a boy.
In a blog post which has since been deleted, the author known only as Lana said she fell pregnant in 2012.
Referring to the baby's father as a 'donator' and her pregnancy as a 'diagnosis', Lana was initially happy to be having a baby.
However, after an ultrasound scan revealed she was having a boy, she was "in shock".
"I started crying, weeping at the thought of what I was about to curse the world with" continued Lana.
Finding out she was having a boy sent Lana into a state of "mental anguish" where she was "crying, sobbing, uncontrollable weeping, mental anguish the likes of which may only be experienced by those who have had their lives destroyed by war".
Describing her baby as "another monster", three days after finding out the sex of her unborn child, she decided to have an abortion.
Concluding her blog entry, Lana signed off with the following: "I don’t hate men, I hate the patriarchy, what men, and even some women, turn into, I wasn’t going to let that happen with my offspring. The chances were greater that it would with a male, it was unacceptable.
‘If the curse returns, I would do the exact same thing all over again".
Lana claimed to be a feminist, saying she fought for women's rights "to the point of eschewing a career".
Her claims have angered supporters of feminist movements worldwide, who have again pointed out that feminism is about securing equal rights. Many have stated that Lana's posts are hate-filled and a prime example of misandry rather than any relation to feminism.
