2. Friends that though were "no good" for us
You've guessed it. They didn't want us getting mixed up with the wrong crowd. And they were never afraid to make their thoughts on the matter known...
3. Lovestruck
Falling in love is a tricky business. And nobody knows this better than our Mums. Thankfully, we've got them at our side to remind us just that.
4. Fashion police
From our first youth disco to our dress for the Galway races, when we're looking for an honest opinion, there's only one woman to call.
5. Study time
Those parties and nights out we weren't allowed go to when we were at school? Oh right, she just wanted us to get into the best college we could and reach our potential. Isn't she just the worst?
6. Saving those shekels
We mightn't earn much, but despite our protests, our Mums always make sure we're setting aside a few bob. It turns out we've now got some spare cash to book flights and plan little treats for ourselves. How ingenious.
7. All those extra-curricular activities
Basketball, orchestra, piano, speech and drama, choir, life-saving, tennis, gymnastics. The list just goes on and on. And while at the time we were furious when we weren't allowed to give up on any of these things, we now know they all she wanted to do was introduce us to as many hobbies as possible to open our minds and see what makes us tick. Legend.
Irish Mammies; they're always and forever looking out for us. And that's why we love them so much.
