Actor Steve John Shepherd has announced today that he will be exiting the East End permanently in June. The actor, who plays Alfie Moon’s cousin Michael, has decided it was time to move on.
Shepherd, who has played the character Michael for two years now, stated: I feel now is the time to move on. I have relished every minute of exploring his character - the good and the bad.”
"I feel extremely privileged to have had this amazing experience and want to thank everybody - most importantly the fans of the show - for taking Michael and his numerous flaws into their hearts."

Although BBC bosses have confirmed that the actor will end his time in the Square, Michael’s exit will not happen until later this year.
We’re hoping that this will have something to do with Janine... We are suggesting Christmas special. Just putting it out there...
