These days in the age of social media motivational quotes are running rampant, especially on Facebook.
Now don’t get us wrong, we enjoy the good quote and the captivating saying, but there are many out there that are far more cringey than inspirational. Not only do they induce massive eye-rolls but some make us want to cover our faces in complete embarrassment.
We can do cheesy, but this is too much.
1) Don't make a girl fall for you, if you have no intention of catching her
The meaning: Don’t lead a person on if you’ve no real interest in them.
The reality: Cue eye-roll. Though there is truth to this quote, we can’t help but feel like there’s a less cheesy way of putting it.
The literal: Why would you want the girl to fall in the first place? What if you’ve butter fingers? Maybe you have good intentions but you’re just awful at catching things.

2) Shoot for the moon. Even if you fail, you’ll land among the stars.
The meaning: It’s one of those quotes that really doesn’t seem to make sense. In a nutshell, what the quote is trying to suggest is if you aim high and don’t make it, don’t worry because you’ll still get to do something cool.
The reality: Sadly, this isn’t the reality of the situation, especially if you aim really big and fail. The likelihood of what's going to happen is that you’re actually going to end up really unhappy about the fact that you failed on your initial attempt in the first place.
The literal: But that aside, let’s take it literally, the moon is actually closer to us than the stars anyway, so even if we do aim for the moon and fail in our endeavours, we'll be nowhere near the sparkly stars.
3) If your dreams don’t scare you, they’re not big enough
The meaning: Aim high and step out of your comfort zone even if it terrifies you.
The reality: But you don’t have to though do you and why should you have to go to extreme lengths to reach your dreams? Where’s the line when it comes to “big” dreams anyway?
For example: Say you love books and you know that you’d be incredibly content to be surrounded by them. Do you need to go a scary place if your dream is simply to become a bookstore owner? Probably not.
The literal: Who would want to have scary dreams all the time? No clowns for us, thank you very much! Is it not more important that you’re happy than terrified? Paranoia alert.
4) Everyday is a second chance
The meaning: Don’t worry you will be able redeem yourself if you’ve done wrong or feel like you’ve wasted your day away, because everyday is a new day.
The reality: Will this actually motivate a person to change their ways? What if they’re happy not doing anything?
The literal: Everyday is a second chance unless you’ve messed up royally in a situation, like forgotten your oxygen tank while in space and you’re in the pits of despair. Dilemma.

5) Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened
The meaning: Look back fondly on the time that you had together or experience that you had and don’t reflect on the bad.
The reality: If you’re relating this to a relationship where your partner completely broke your heart or a time where you were feeling your worst, the chances are you’re probably aren’t going to smile about the whole situation. More like experience heartbreak all over again...
The literal: Sure don’t cry because that’s weak, plaster a grin on your face instead!
