For some people, Facebook is just another place to show off their relationship status.
Relationships and break-ups are now public information, pre-emptive Facebook stalking has ruined any would-be surprises on a first date (we’re grateful for this one) and the contest of who can gain more Likes on a couple’s selfie is in full-swing.
One Brazilian website has decided to cash in on this new trend in love and has identified a niche for potential profit.
Their product? Fake Facebook girlfriends.
We’re not joking.
For a bargain of $39.00 NamoroFake.com.br will create a Facebook girlfriend profile for you that includes comments and the all-important "relationship status" change for thirty days. Or, for those on a budget who want to earn a little street cred and have a pile of pleading exes, $19.00 will buy you a fake ex-girlfriend.
"Impress your friends," says the website. "Gain confidence with women."

Ah, finally... I can click the button.
Sure why not go for it? The website suggests a number of possible reasons to hire a fake flame.
"Sometimes having a fake girlfriend on the Internet helps make you more popular with the women and increases your self esteem," says the website.
"Sometimes people need to rent a fake girlfriend to make jealous a jealous ex-girlfriend. In truth, we have a lot of clients for that reason," it says.
"After a breakup, the ex-boyfriends want to show that they are already with another person to feel good. One immediate way to do this is to hire a fake girlfriend to maintain appearances."
Desperation wasn’t listed…
To bolster the ranks of fake girlfriends, the website is inviting women to send in their profiles, with a 50 per cent profit-sharing incentive.
There are currently no fake Facebook boyfriends for hire, though the site says it has plans to offer them in the future.
