Not everyone has enjoyed this year’s X Factor but it could end up serving up quite the surprise if Christopher Maloney is named the winner this weekend considering that he had to rely on the wild card vote to make it into the live finals.
The Liverpudlian singer, who has received a lot of criticism throughout the series, seems to be very popular with viewers and could even end up winning the show much to Simon Cowell’s dismay.
It was reported that the music mogul wanted the singer out of the competition because he was too old-fashioned and even told some of the judges to make it happen.
Union J, who were knocked out on Sunday, revealed who they want to win.
And it seems he’s not the only one who doesn’t believe that Christopher is right for the show. Recently-eliminated boy band Union J said that he could end up damaging the show’s already questionable reputation.
Jamie ‘JJ’ Hamblett explained: “I don’t think it would do amazingly well for the show if Chris won. But then again, it is the public vote, so they’re keeping him in.”
Christopher is up against Jahmene Douglas (above) and James Arthur on Saturday.
Band mate Jaymi Hensley also said that while Chris wouldn’t be a bad winner, there is still a lot of talent in the competition: “I don’t think Chris would be a bad winner, but this year’s been a massive year for talent.”
He added: “It’s about the music this year and I think it would be a shame if James didn’t nail it or if Jahmene, because of his voice, doesn’t smash it.”
As much as we might agree with what the boys are saying, we can’t help but feel they might be a little bit bitter about the fact that Christopher is through to the final and they’re not.
But whoever wins we have no doubt that Saturday night’s show will be worth tuning in for, if only to see whether Simon will be having an enjoyable Christmas!
