Six-Year-Old Writes Bucket List Of Things To See Before Losing Her Sight

This little girl's story will touch your heart.

Six-year-old Molly Bent, who suffers from retinitis pigmentosa (RD), has compiled a list of things she wants to see before she goes blind.

The little girl, from Manchester, was born with normal eyesight but was diagnosed with the genetic degenerative eye disease last year.

Retinitis pigmentosa is responsible for progressive vision loss and currently, there is no cure for this condition.

Molly’s parents, Chris and Eve, first noticed that their daughter was having trouble with her sight when she found it difficult to watch television and do her homework.

‘‘Although my brother has the condition and several uncles have had it, I never thought Molly could have inherited it because we were always told that only boys could get it,’’ Eve told The Telegraph.

“When we got the diagnosis it was a big shock. We don’t know exactly when Molly will go blind but it feels as though her sight deteriorates every time we go to the opticians.

“She now can’t see out of the sides of her eyes and recently she told us that everybody standing far away looks like ‘fuzzy teddy bears.’ Molly also has night blindness, so she can hardly see in low lights and she falls over quite a lot.’’

The couple have two other children, Charlotte (5) and Samuel (2) and while the condition is not an issue at the moment, they are regularly tested as the disease is hereditary.

Molly has made a list of things she would like to see before her sight deteriorates and her family have set up a fundraising page, entitled Making Molly’s Memories, to help makes this happen.

In a post on the fundraising page, which has raised over £41,000 to date, Eve explains how Molly loves animals and is an adventurous and confident child.’

The little girl wants to see London, Scotland, Legoand and the Natural History Museum before her sight diminishes.

However, Disneyworld is top of her list and with any luck, Making Molly’s Memories will allow for this trip.
