Smooching Stamina – Thai Couples Attempt To Break The Guinness World Record For Kissing

Everyone loves kissing don't they? But how long do you think you could last without getting tired, a bit bored or needing a loo break...

For several Thai couples, the lure of breaking the Guinness World Record for kissing proved too irresistable to turn down and having successfully beaten the world record, seven couples are now currently competing against each other for a cash prize of €2,500 (100,000 Baht) and a diamond ring.

"I'm 100 per cent confident that a couple will break the record," said Somporn Naksuetrong, the vice president of Ripley's Believe It or Not! in Pattaya, which hosted the event.

The oldest entrants to sign up in hope of winning the prize were a 74-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

"They quit after about one hour. It was the first time we had old people joining," Ms Somporn said.

The previous record was set in German in 2009, when a couple managed to kiss for 32 hours, seven minutes and fourteen seconds. 

Competitors are allowed to eat, drink and use the lavatory... provided they don't break their embrace.

We don't even want to think about how the last one is humanly possible but we have to admit we're impressed by their dedication.
