Yes, you’ve read that correctly. South Koreans are going mad for condom sales, with stocks jumping 15% in just one day.
So why is there such a run on rubber?
South Korea lifted decriminalised adultery in the country yesterday, meaning if you want to cheat you’re more likely to get away with it (legally anyway).
And it seems cheaters may like to take relationship risks, but draw the line at their sexual health.
According to Time magazine, local condom manufacturer Unidus Corp saw its stock jump 15 percent since the ban was lifted yesterday, and shows no signs of slowing down in the action.
Explaining the decision to decriminalise the behaviour, Constitutional Court Justice Ki-seok Seo said:
"The law is unconstitutional as it infringes people's right to make their own decisions on sex and secrecy and freedom of their private life.”
Adultery was criminalised in the country in 1958, with nearly 900 people charged with the offence last year alone.
So now it’s safe to bed-hop it’s time to wrap other members of society that have previously been kept under wraps.
