So, how much did your taxi home cost on Saturday night then Michael?
Independent politician and Kerryman Michael Healy-Rae says he can’t see “any big deal” with RTÉ picking up the bill for his taxi home to Kerry after his appearance on The Saturday Night Show.
The cost? Four hundred yo-yos, we’re not kidding.
The Kerry South TD defended his 720 kilometre round trip, saying it was “completely normal practice” as he needed to get home for a 21st birthday, the Irish Daily Mail reports.
Ever heard of the train Michael?
It’d be the form of transport us mere minions would have chosen for ourselves.
RTÉ spent over €113,177 in appearance fees and €80,182 in travel expenses for The Saturday Night Show in 2011.

Ahh Michael...
It was also claimed that Independent TD Michael Healy-Rae won a reality TV show after over 3,600 votes were cast from a single phone in the Dáil in 2007.
Healy Rae won the Celebrities Go Wild programme and beat off competition from a celebrity cast that included the late model Katy French and Rose of Tralee host Daithi O'Sé.
According to a report, 3,636 votes were cast from a single phone in Leinster House at a cost of over €2,500.
