Were you glued to the Christmas special of Downton Abbey back in December? Are you now crawling out of your skin with anticipation for the next series? Well, no worries because we have some gossip for you!
The Irish Daily Star reports that Allen leech, who plays Tom Branson in the drama, has revealed that the next series of Downton will focus on Lady Mary and thrust her into the spotlight as she adjusts to her new life.
Allen also revealed that his own character will also be caught up in some heavy plot twists that have been designed to keep viewers guessing. However, the actor has refused to give away exactly what will happen.
“There are a couple of things I can’t really talk about. But yeah, definitely toward the middle of the series it gets very exciting,” said Allen.
Filming for the fourth season of the hit period drama began last week in Oxfordshire, England and, according to reports, one of the first scenes centres around the grave of Matthew Crawley.
Allen said that Mary Crawley will be struggling to pick up the pieces in the new season.

Allen said that the new series will focus on Lady Mary
“She’s trying to get over the death of her husband and that’s a very central arc to it,” said Allen.
“Downton is in a period of change, as it always is, and that’s pretty integral again to the family trying to cope with the changes that come with the 20s,” he added.
As with the previous series of Downton, the next season of the show will jump forward in time by six months.
The next season is due to hit screens in autumn and will see the Crawley family joined by some new cast members as they try and cope with the excitement of the roaring twenties.
