EastEnders is to fork out a staggering £1million (€1.16) to pull off what is expected to be the TV moment of the year.
The most expensive stunt in the soap’s history will see Phil Mitchell, played by Steve Mc Fadden crashing a lorry on route to a dodgy deal (sure what else would he be at) with a new face to Albert Square, Carl White.

The storyline will include the return of Peggy Mitchell to Albert Square, visiting her injured son in hospital as he fights for his life, in a one-off special.
The explosive storyline will see Phil flung through a windscreen and then airlifted to hospital by a helicopter – which comes as part of the big bucks move.

Aw no, not her Phil...
The dramatic plot is the writers attempt to pull in flagging viewers. The explosive scenes will air this autumn just as it’s rumoured a few more familiar faces will return to the show.
