Deaths in Springfield are few and far between, so it's no surprise that the brains behind long-running and beloved show The Simpsons have reignited passions for the animated series by teasing a character death for the upcoming series.
Speculation has been rife since show runners first announced a demise wagon the cards for a "great character", but it seems now that the biggest hit has been dropped.
Executive Producer of the show Al Jean spoke as part of a panel on Fox comedies during the Television Critics Association press tour yesterday and set the rumour mill ablaze when he announced that the show's season premiere, which is set to feature the death, was titled A Clown in the Dumps.
He added that his clues to date have been "obvious".
Fans already know that the character's voice actor has won an Emmy for his/her work on the show. Krusty is voiced by Dan Castellaneta, who also plays Homer Simpson Grampa Simpson, Barney Gumble, Groundskeeper Willie and Mayor Quimby.
