Sex is one of life’s little pleasures, but if he finishes too quickly – well it’s not always the most rewarding experience. According to a new study by the Journal of Sexual Medicine, 30% of men are dissatisfied with how long they last in bed. In the study of more than 1,200 men, 376 of them reported they had ejaculated sooner than they had wanted to during sex. The study then divided these men into two groups – one who met the medical criteria for premature ejaculation (lasting less than two minutes) and men who lasted longer, but were still finishing sooner than they had wanted. According to the researchers, most of the men who participated in the study didn’t meet the criteria for premature ejaculation, and were deemed ‘healthy’ when it came to finishing times. So what did men blame for their quick timing? Of those surveyed from each group, men noted that a lack of control of their hypersensitivity meant they weren’t able to put off their timing. In other words, there were simply just too aroused and were not able to control their timings during sex. A few men cited anxiety, or prolonged health issues as reasons for premature ejaculation, while a small number of men cited problems with their partner as an issue in the bedroom.
